Tony assists clients with commercial transactions and commercial disputes. He has over 25 years experience in the law in Sydney and, for a brief time, in London. Tony has been a senior associate in 2 large CBD firms and now enjoys the boutique commercial law firm in North Sydney that is RBHM Commercial Lawyers.
Tony obtained his law degree from the University of Sydney. He completed a Master of Laws at the University of Sydney in 1993, specialising in securities and corporate law, restrictive trade practices and corporate finance. Tony is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia and has a Diploma in Applied Finance from the Institute. He is the Honorary Solicitor for the Royal Humane Society of New South Wales.
Tony provides corporate and commercial advice on negotiating and documenting commercial arrangements. He has been involved with the Australian Submarine Corporation over complex defence procurement contracts, British Telecom in joint ventures, film production contracts. More recently Tony has been involved in a merger and acquisition in the surf wear industry and the development of aged care facilities.
Tony has expertise in several key areas of commercial law practice and is able to coordinate and implement an overall commercial strategy and solution.
Tony has been involved in licensing and distribution agreements for trade marks and other intellectual property, both in Australia and internationally.
In the area of franchising, in which Tony has a particular interest, he uses his expertise in commercial leases, intellectual property, negotiating and documenting the sale and purchase of businesses, finance documentation, employment issues and selecting appropriate business structures to produce a comprehensive business and legal solution to franchisees and franchisors.
Tony is also regularly involved in employment issues, drafting employment contracts, advising on termination of employees, restraints of trade and resolving legal claims for unfair dismissal and unfair contracts in the Industrial Relations Commission.
Tony has been involved in many disputes involving shareholders and partners. To resolve commercial and employment disputes, Tony uses a variety of resolution methods including negotiation and mediation. Tony has also conducted a wide variety of legal proceedings in the various Courts in New South Wales and well understands the litigation process. He uses that knowledge and experience to guide clients into finding commercial solutions for their disputes.
Tony is married with 5 children. In his spare time, Tony is a keen musician and sportsman, golf, tennis and surfing being his main interests.
